New Rural Youth Leadership Organization Launches in Blue Grass, Iowa
Rural Iowa Youth Leadership Training Foundation Now Officially Incorporated
BLUE GRASS, IA — The Rural Iowa Youth Leadership Training Foundation (RIYLTF) is proud to announce its official incorporation as a nonprofit organization, effective August 1, 2025, in Blue Grass, Iowa. This milestone marks the beginning of a transformative new effort to empower young people in rural communities across Eastern Iowa.
Founded with a mission to develop civic-minded, service-oriented leaders from ages 5 to 20, the RIYLTF blends the structure of traditional scouting with modern leadership training, community outreach, and hands-on service. The foundation aims to engage youth in outdoor adventure, civic learning, emergency preparedness, and mentorship—all rooted in the values of community, character, and public service.
“We’re building something special for Eastern Iowa,” said Leigh Mack, one of the founding members. “By connecting kids to their communities through real-world projects and service opportunities, we’re giving them a path to leadership, purpose, and local impact.”
Based in Blue Grass and serving the broader Eastern Iowa region, the organization plans to collaborate with schools, first responders, local governments, businesses, and civic groups to provide year-round programming and community-based activities. Recruitment for volunteers, mentors, and program partners is now underway.
The Rural Iowa Youth Leadership Training Foundation invites all Iowans to join its mission to strengthen rural communities through the power of youth leadership.
